Food for thought...

The Bible is filled with stories of the faithful who have fasted.  It is the deprivation of a basic need, and the absence of food is impossible to ignore.  It requires action, the body demanding fuel to keep going.  Humans cannot survive for long without it, and the drive to get it is one of the strongest we have.

There are also stories of Jesus sharing meals with friends; turning water to wine at a wedding feast, and making five loaves and two fishes feed thousands.

Food is usually at the center of family time.. Most people associate comfort and love with the food put before them, and many people show their loving touch in the creation of the food their family will eat.  Food brings people together in common need, and provides us with a pleasurable experience together.  No wonder the devil uses food to tempt the faithful.

Today I am grateful for the delicious food I have to eat each day.  It sustains both body and soul, and gives us a comfortable place to be with others.
